About Me

My passion for wine was indirectly born from another passion of mine:  soccer.  In 1998, I was travelling through Europe with friends to attend the World Cup, when we passed through the Burgundy wine country in France.  I had never seen anything like it.  The culture and beauty drew me in so much that in truth, the wine could have been terrible and I still would have loved it.  But the wine wasn’t terrible, it was amazing, and since that trip I’ve had a special place in my heart for the famous Burgundian varietals of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

From that moment on, I’ve made a point to visit local wineries wherever my travels have taken me, including Italy, Spain, Germany and countless destinations throughout the US.  I’m always drawn to the same type of experience - the boutique, estate grown winery where the vineyards surround the tasting room and the person who pours your glass is the one who made the wine, who planted the vines, who lives at the top of the hill.  After years of envying the life these entrepreneurs had made for themselves, I finally resolved to make a similar one for myself.

I am a husband, a father, a son, a brother, a friend, a coach and an employee.  I’ve spent the first 16 years of my adult life in a rewarding career as a private equity investor, and someday in the distant future, when the nickels I’ve been saving add up to a dollar, I hope to launch my second career, as the owner/operator of a boutique estate winery and vineyard.  This blog is my journey.
